so, about that new Miku song...

Posted by MrEvilMan1999 - 1 month ago

So, I'm pretty sure y'all have heard of that new Hatsune Miku song that is out now. The name of the song is called Static by FLAVOR FOLEY. What do I think of it? The music video is so amazing! Although, I do have to mention, if you have epilepsy, or are sensitive to any bright lights and/or visuals, it's best not to see the music video. as it contains flashing lights and such.

The music video for the song is amazing! it was so cute seeing Miku in such a cartoonish style! almost nostalgic even! I'll admit, when the "disturbing things" were happening, I was caught off-guard, I was like, hey! where did all the colors go? The beginning caught me off-guard too! When I clicked on the music video to hear it for the first time, I was thrown off by that dead stare... into my soul... menacingly! The VHS filters were getting warped, I was expecting a jumpscare, and I thought, this must be some sort of horror song...

And then, it changes into a very cute, cartoonish Miku was moving her body in a cute way! With cute lyrics reminding us to tap our feet, to sing along, what's happening on the TV, and reminding us how this should be. She also reminds us on how the world is a frightful place to be in, but also says to not be scared because she's not going anywhere. She wants you to not touch that dial, and to stay with her for a while. She romanticizes the past, and said that this is how it should be, in studio seats, her ego, wired in the CRT. She suggests skipping the sign-off, and to repeat the sameness.

She would remind us that we should sing with her, as it's a catchy melody, and that it's sweet when we sing along with her. She would remind us that we should check the script, as to not mess up, and to keep the harmony in key. So that it can be the way it ought to be. She would remind us that it's another day in keeping with our company, and that she didn't care what people say, saying that "we'll stay another day in revelry, reverie! Always stay together, fair and stormy weather, never growing older, never growing colder, always be together, now and for forever..." From there, the 4:3 would change to a 16:9 for a few seconds before changing back to a 4:3... i thought it was very cool but creepy at the same time!

She would also keep asking these questions, like, "what's the nicest thing you see?" or, "who's the brightest star you see?" and the answer to these questions would always be the same, which she says, "it's me!" She said that the world that we know never seems to take it slow and how it's at a tiring pace, and reassures us to not delay, and that she'll be here to save the day... and the chorus would repeat. The VHS filter would get warped a lot more during the chorus this time.

Then, she reminds us that when we go, we shouldn't change the channel, and hopes that we won't be long, and reminds us that all she wants is for her to be wanted, which, in that moment, I kinda feel rather empathetic... and then, the chorus repeats itself for a final time with the VHS filter being warped and distorted. And in the end, she told us a final remark, she said that this is how it should be. And then the song ends.

Now, before trying to give the meaning of the song in my own words, the song is really great! The visuals are great, the song is catchy, it's creative, the colors are used in a great way, and Miku looks so adorable in a cartoony style! I give it a 10/10 and I think it deserves more exposure like how Mesmerizer, featuring Miku and Teto, by 32ki received when it was first released back in April of 2024! Now, from what I understand, in this song, Miku is a very insecure person who is just looking for a way to be happy like how she is back in the past, which would explain the old CRT TV, the visuals, the romanticization of the past, the fear of being alone, the self-compliments, the idea of not growing older, and most importantly, the desire for everything to be the same. And from all of this, this shows that in this song, Miku is a rather insecure person who is just wanting to be happy like in the past, and I think it makes total sense in some cases. Some people wanna escape from the world by living in the past where it's more comforting, easier, and simpler. Not saying that I'm one of those people, as I gotta look forward to focusing on my future, but it's completely understandable. In my own opinion, it's okay to go back in the past and such, just don't overdo it.

And that's pretty much all there is to say... I think Static was such an amazing song, everything about it was done in such a unique and clever way, thus adding to its greatness as a song! FLAVOR FOLEY did such an amazing job to this song!

and remember, I'm not a music critic like Fantano, so if you disagree, that's fine! I'm just telling you guys on the Internet what I love and what I listen!

By the way, are you still watching?

here's the song if you wanna listen!

this is the audio only version, if you're not comfortable with bright flashing lights, you can click this link to just listen to the song without the visuals.
